What happens when a senior business executive is thrown into a jail in small town Jharkhand? An education of a lifetime…

When Chetan Mahajan is wrongfully sent to Bokaro jail, he encounters a world completely different from his corporate life in Delhi. From picking the best prison ward, befriending the people who can get him mobile phone access and upgraded food, and training for his upcoming marathon in the small prison yard, Mahajan soon learns to survive. In the process, he makes unlikely friends and learns the most important lessons in his life.

Each cell in the jail brings forth its own character, and a microcosm of lower-middle class small-town India plays out before his eyes. Chetan’s fellow inmates range from bicycle thieves to career assassins, rapists, and dowry murderers. And their faith ranges from men who pray 6 hours a day to those who practice “Humanity”. And a spiritual guru who goes by the name “Reiki Chacha” in the jail brings him face to face with his own atheism.

The parallel economy of the jail - which isn’t supposed to have one – also becomes visible to his eyes as an amateur economist. And the visit of godman Sri Sri Ravi Shankar resulting in sexual frustration adds to the enigma.

A true story, The Bad Boys of Bokaro Jail , is both fascinating and very entertaining. It will show you an India you have never seen before.
